Circus School |
Written by Catherine Davis | |
You don't need any experience, and circus schools and workshops are open to all ages, abilities and aspirations. You could try juggling, acrobatic balancing and tumbling, stilt walking or riding a unicycle. Whilst some circus skills like diablo can be easily mastered and practised at home, feats such as tight wire walking and the flying trapeze require more daring and can really test the nerve. Learning circus skills develops body awareness and control through mental and physical discipline, and improves focus, concentration, balance and coordination. Like other performing arts, learning circus skills can be a real confidence builder. You might discover new things about yourself and have a lot of fun in the process. An alternative is Western skills where among other things, you can learn how to crack a whip, use a lasso and throw knives.
